Work-Life Balance: Movement Has Never Been More Important
Certified yoga instructor and wellness advocate highlights the benefits of mind-body alignment for working professionals.
[Los Angeles, California] — With the stress of the pandemic and the physical and mental toll of hours upon hours of slouching in front of ZOOM have taken on workers, regular movement and care for our minds and bodies have never been more imperative. Studies show remote workers are putting in more work hours per week than they did at the office. What’s more, research suggests that an increase in work hours can lead to significant poor health outcomes, including an increased likelihood of heart disease and stroke.
Heather Archer, a native Californian and Hawaii-based yoga teacher, says that the last 18 months have woken us up to the reality that our physical health really matters.
“If our goal is to alleviate stress, create optimal health, happiness, balance, and a sense of ease in our life, then exercise is a remedy,” Archer said. “Daily exercise can bring benefits like improved strength, balance and flexibility, improved self-esteem and self-love. It can reduce tension in the muscles and joints, eliminate stress in the body and help bring ease and clarity to your mind,” she added.
Archer will explore more benefits of mind-body alignment in a featured event for Society of Saleswomen members this month. “Align: Mind + Body” will take place Monday, August 30th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. PST on ZOOM. It is one event in a series of monthly virtual events hosted by SOS and is designed to equip female and female-supportive members to grow and learn from one another.
